West Union Stolen Vehicle-Meth Arrests

On 7-28-25, at approximately 10:00PM, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office took a report of a stolen vehicle which was investigated throughout the night and morning hours of 7-30-25.  On 7-29-25, at approximately 11:30AM, a West Union Police Officer noticed the stolen vehicle, and initiated a traffic stop.  Fayette County Sheriff's Deputies also arrived on scene.  After a canine deployment and a search, illegal substances were found and seized.   William Dale Mack, 38 of West Union, was arrested and charged with Operating Without Owners Consent and Possession of methamphetamine 2nd Offense, both aggravated misdemeanors.  Passenger in the stolen vehicle, Kurtis Wayne Shasteen, 41 of West Union IA, was also arrested for Possession of methamphetamine 3rd Offense, a class D Felony.   Both subjects were taken into custody and transported to Fayette County Jail, where they awaited their initial appearance.
