Incident Details: The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on 183rd Street near Calmar for a noise complaint. Upon arrival, deputies discovered an underage party. Multiple people ran into the woods and deputies were unable to locate anyone. After leaving the scene, another call was received about a subject that was no longer welcome at the residence and was refusing to leave. Deputies returned to the residence and the subject fled again until a deputy caught up to him. Subsequently, Carver Wenthold was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail for Serious Misdemeanor Possession of Controlled Substance, Simple Misdemeanor Interference with Official Acts and Possession of Alcohol by Underage Person.

Incident Details: The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop after a vehicle was seen swerving back and forth multiple times and drove into the oncoming traffic. Subsequently, the driver, Frank Buxton, was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail for Serious Misdemeanor Operating While Under the Influence and Serious Misdemeanor Possession or Carrying of Dangerous Weapons While Under the Influence.
A Preston, Minnesota man has been charged in connection with a minor two-vehicle accident in Winneshiek County. 26-year old Brennen Erick Gunderson was charged with Failure to Stop in Assured Clear Distance. The accident occurred on July 31st at 3:55pm on Iowa Highway 9. 57-year old Jonathon Edwin Curtis of Decorah was operating a Honda Odyssey and slowed down because traffic was backed up due to an accident. Curtis saw that a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 operated by Gunderson was not slowing down and attempted to move to the shoulder but was unsuccessful and was rear-ended by the Gunderson vehicle. No one was injured and damage totaled over four-thousand dollars.
