A Clayton Ridge School Bus Driver was fired for repeatedly driving while using his cellphone. The Iowa Capital Dispatch reports that Donald Schneider was placed on leave on March 10th and was then fired in April. Schneider reported an incident that occurred on his bus on March 10th. A review of security-camera footage showed Schneider using his cell phone while driving, which is in violation of district policy and state law. Additional videos were reviewed and a judge who presided over an unemployment benefit hearing stated that they showed "substantial, frequent, and egregious use" of the cell phone while driving. In one instance, Schneider was allegedly holding the cell phone with both hands while driving students at night. Schneider acknowledged using his cell phone inappropriately and indicated he knew it was illegal. The judge denied the application for unemployment benefits.
