GUTTENBERG, IA — The Clayton Ridge Community School District School Board has announced that Jay Marley will serve as the district’s next superintendent, pending board finalization.
Marley currently serves as a shared superintendent for the Nashua-Plainfield and Tripoli Community School Districts. He brings extensive leadership experience across rural Iowa school systems, along with a strong track record of improving student outcomes, strengthening district culture, and maintaining financial stability.
Throughout his career, Marley has led strategic planning efforts aligned with the Iowa Future Ready framework, expanded opportunities for students through innovative programming, and implemented continuous improvement systems such as Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). He has also demonstrated strong fiscal management, reducing expenditures while maintaining high-quality programs and services.
“On behalf of the board and the entire Clayton Ridge community, we are excited to welcome Jay as our next superintendent,” said Jessica Bittner. “His commitment to student-centered leadership, relationship building, and continuous improvement makes him an excellent fit for our district. We look forward to the impact he will have on our students, staff, and community.”
Marley’s background includes experience as a principal, activities director, and classroom teacher, giving him a well-rounded perspective on education. He is currently pursuing a doctor of education degree from the University of Northern Iowa and has been actively involved in statewide leadership and advocacy efforts supporting Iowa schools.
“I am truly honored and excited to serve as the next Superintendent of the Clayton Ridge Community School District,” Marley said. “Clayton Ridge’s supportive community and commitment to excellence make it a special place, and I look forward to contributing to its continued success.”
He also emphasized his personal connection to the community.
“This opportunity is both professional and deeply personal. My wife is a proud graduate of Guttenberg, and together we are proud to call this community our forever home,” Marley said. “I believe deeply in the power of authentic communication, strong work ethic, and ethical leadership. I look forward to partnering with staff, students, families, and the community to build on the strong foundation already in place and support the success of every learner.”
The School Board partnered with Grundmeyer Leader Services to conduct the superintendent search and identify top candidates for the position ahead of the 2026-27 school year.
Marley will officially begin his role with the Clayton Ridge Community School District July 1, 2026.
