Farley Couple dies from injuries in connection with a March 1st Accident in Dubuque County.

On March 1, 2026, at approximately 0753 hours, the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, and Centralia/Peosta Fire Department responded to the intersection of the Hwy 20 eastbound off ramp and Sundown Rd for a report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Investigation showed the driver, Marvin Jarding (85 yoa) of Farley, was travelling eastbound on Hwy 20. He exited Hwy 20 onto the eastbound off-ramp at Peosta. Marvin failed to stop at the Sundown Rd intersection, traveling straight across the intersection and into the ditch on the south side of the east bound on-ramp where the vehicle struck several large pieces of concrete at the bottom of the embankment. Marvin’s wife, Mary (81 yoa), was a passenger in the vehicle. Marvin and Mary were both injured in the accident and were transported to Mercy Hospital in Dubuque for treatment.
Mary was determined to need higher level of care and was transported to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City where she succumbed to her injuries on March 1st. Marvin was being treated at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque until March 7th, when he also died. Investigation into the accident remains active.
