Fayette County arrest one on a warrant and a minor accident report

On March 31, 2026, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office arrested Gavin Lee Slifer, age 35 of State Center, on a Valid Fayette County Warrant for Felony Probation Violation. Slifer was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he is held on a No Bond warrant and awaits an initial appearance from a Magistrate Judge. The Fayette County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office.

On April 6, 2026 at approximately 9:42 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office responded to a car v/s deer accident in the 10,000 Block of G Avenue.  It was determined 45-year-old Latoya Canty of Carpentersville, Il was traveling north on G Avenue when and deer entered the roadway.  Canty’s 2020 Honda Accord sustained disabling damage, but no injuries were reported.  The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by No Limit Diesel Towing.
