Fayette County Authorities release information on five separate arrest incidents

On April 12th, 2026, at approximately 4:52 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a single vehicle accident in the 1500 block of 245th Street, Elgin, IA. It was also reported that the two males in the vehicle were possibly intoxicated and attempted to flee on foot. Upon Deputy arrival, it was determined that Michael Richard Stodola (age 44) of Clermont was intoxicated and placed under arrest for Public Intoxication, a simple misdemeanor. After further investigation William Durnan, 49 of Elgin was arrested and charged with Operating while intoxicated 1st offense, serious misdemeanor and cited for Failure to maintain control. Both were transported to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office where they were held for an initial appearance. Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Torkelson Auto.
On April 12th, 2026, at approximately 8:18 PM, The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 4000 block of N Ave, Oelwein, IA. The vehicle described was located in the 13000 block of 40th Street, Stanley, IA. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the driver, Carter Thomas Nolan (age 25) of Maynard, was intoxicated. Subsequently he was placed under arrest for Operating While under the Influence 3rd or Subsequent Offense, a D Felony. Carter was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he was held for his initial appearance. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Iowa State Patrol in this incident. (photo)

On April 10, 2026, at 12:07PM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single vehicle accident on C Ave near 70th Street, near Arlington. When deputies arrived, it was learned that a 2022 Jeep Compass operated by 55 year old Linda Pasker of Arlington was driving south on C Ave when she went into the west ditch, striking an embankment. Pasker was treated for minor injuries. Her vehicle was totaled and this accident remains under investigation. Fayette County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Arlington Fire Department and Arlington Ambulance.
On 4-10-26, at approximately 12:50AM, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call of an assault at 11009 Filmore Rd. Fayette County Sheriff's Deputies arrived on scene and conducted an investigation. Through interviews it was found both parties, Aguileo Choncoa, 31 of West Union IA, and Leonel De Jesus, 27 of West Union IA had been consuming alcohol, showed up to work, and started assaulting each other during an argument. Choncoa and De Jesus were both arrested for Domestic Assault Causing Bodily Injury. Both subjects were taken into custody and transported to Fayette County Jail, where they currently await initial appearance.
On April 8, 2026, at approximately 9:15PM, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call of a female attempting to flag down vehicles in the 5,000 Block of K Avenue. Deputies responded to the scene, and found the female was injured, and victim to a domestic assault where she lived nearby. The victim's 4 children were safely located by law enforcement and reunited with their mother. The male suspect, later identified as 34-year-old Tomas Hernandez Garcia, of Guatemala, fled the area and was located by law enforcement at a property nearby. Upon investigation, Tomas Hernandez Garcia was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault Impeding Air Flow and Injury, a Class D Felony, and Child Endangerment , an Aggravated Misdemeanor. Garcia was taken into custody and transported to Fayette County Jail, where he awaited an initial appearance. (photo)
