Fayette County Authorities release information on minor accident and the arrest of an Oelwein man

On 1/6/26 at approximately 6:46 am, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a report of a truck vs deer accident on Golden Road near G Avenue, approximately three miles west of Elgin. After further investigation, it was determined that Craig Kyle's Boleyn, age 71 of Elgin, was driving west bound in a Red 2000 Ford F150 truck when he struck a deer in the traveled portion of the roadway. No injuries were reported. The truck sustained approximately $5000 in damages.

On January 5^th, 2026, at approximately 4:13 PM, a Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested Robert T.C. Gould  45 of Oelwein. Gould was arrested on a valid Fayette County Arrest Warrant for Assault causing injury, Domestic Assault with injury, Assault displaying a dangerous weapon and false imprisonment. Bond was set in the amount of $5000. Gould is being held in the Fayette County Jail awaiting an initial appearance. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Oelwein Police Department.
