Fayette County Authorities release information on two separate accidents

On February 17^th, 2026, at approximately 3:39 PM, The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call due to a single vehicle accident at the intersection of Fillmore Road and J Ave, West Union, IA. Upon Deputies arrival, it was determined that Marissa Glawe (age 18) of Fayette, was traveling westbound on Fillmore Road in her red 2010 Chevrolet Impala LTZ, when she crossed the center line, nearly striking another vehicle, and crashed into the ditch on the southwest side of the intersection. The red Impala was deemed a total loss with approximate $10,000.00 damage. Marissa had minor injuries and was treated by EMS at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.

On February 16^th, 2026, at approximately 7:32 PM, The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Car/Deer accident near the intersection of W Ave and 90^th Street, Westgate, IA. Upon Deputy arrival, it was determined that Chassidy Schweer (age 39) of Waverly, was traveling southbound on W Ave in a Grey 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan when a deer entered the roadway and was struck. The accident resulted in an approximate $1,500.00 damage. No injuries were reported.
