Hawkeye man arrested on Assault and Possession of Meth Charges and more

On February 16, 2026, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a domestic disturbance repeatedly happening in the 20,000 block of 210th Street near Hawkeye. After further investigation, Mark Shannon Opperman, age 50 of Hawkeye, was arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault (Simple Misdemeanor), Obstruction of Emergency Communications (Simple Misdemeanor), Domestic Abuse Assault with Intent to Inflict Serious Injury (Aggravated Misdemeanor), Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine (Serious Misdemeanor), Possession of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana (Serious Misdemeanor), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Simple Misdemeanor). Mark was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he received an initial appearance from a Magistrate Judge and was released on a $2000 unsecured appearance bond.
