Fayette County Authorities release information on two traffic stops that lead to drug charges

On 6-15-26, at approximately 3:05AM, a Fayette County Sheriff's Deputy came across a vehicle parked in the traveled portion of the roadway at the intersection of 152nd St. and Lantern Rd. Fayette IA.  After an investigation, Christopher Becker, 43 of Fayette IA, was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated, a serious Misdemeanor and Parking in the Travel Portion of a Roadway, a simple misdemeanor.  After a positive canine indication, a probable cause search was conducted which yielded the seizure of illegal substances from the vehicle.  Sara Flores, 44 of Fayette IA, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance-Marijuana 1st Offense, a serious misdemeanor.  Both subjects were taken into cusotdy and  transported to Fayette County Jail, where they awaited initial appearance.  The Fayette County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Chickasaw County Sheriff's Office & K-9 Unit.  

 

 

On June 13th, 2026  at approximately 4:40 AM Fayette County Deputies investigated the report of a suspicious vehicle, which was located at Quarry Rd. and Highway 18. A male party was discovered parked partially in the roadway, facing apposing traffic, and asleep. Upon conducting the investigation, the male driver was identified as John Gilbert Osborn age, 62 of Greene, IA. He was arrested and charged with possession of controlled substance- methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. The investigation is ongoing with additional charges pending upon completion. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the West Union Police Department and the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office canine and handler. Osborn remains in custody at the Fayette County Jail with a $2,000.00 cash or surety bond.
