On Friday, May 22nd, 2026, at approximately 12:45 p.m., a Garnavillo police officer stopped to check on a vehicle parked on the roadway after the Clayton County dispatch center had received calls from passerby’s reference it being a hazard on the roadway. After identifying the driver, it was learned that an arrest warrant had just been filed through Clayton County for the driver for failure to appear. Michael Peck, 62, of Guttenberg, IA was arrested by Garnavillo P.D. and transported to the Clayton County Jail for his active arrest warrant. On Saturday, May 23rd, 2026, at approximately 2:12 a.m., a Garnavillo police officer conducting stationary patrol on Main Street observed a vehicle exceeding the posted speed limit downtown. A registration check further showed that the registered owner of said vehicle held a revoked driving status in the state of Iowa due to OWI test failure. A traffic stop was initiated based off of the above, and it was determined that the revoked registered owner was the driver. Furthermore, a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted based off of the odor of marijuana. A controlled substance was located, and Jazmin Luna, 24, of Waukon, IA was arrested by Garnavillo P.D. and transported to the Clayton County Jail where she was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Offense, Driving While Revoked, Failure to File SR-22 Insurance, No Valid Insurance, and Speeding.
