A complaint was received from a local resident of an ongoing harassment issue in late February of 2026. The resident reported that they were receiving unwanted and alarming contact from a male suspect who resided in Guttenberg. The Garnavillo Police Department made contact with the male suspect and warned him that any further contact would result in criminal charges from this department. The resident contacted the police department again in late March and provided proof that the unwanted contact had begun once again. During the course of the investigation, it was also determined that this male suspect had contacted an individual via phone and had pretended to be a law enforcement officer conducting a “welfare check”. The male suspect did this in an effort to unlawfully determine the whereabouts of a female. At the conclusion of the investigation, the Garnavillo Police Department applied for arrest warrants for this suspect. Once issued by a judge, the Guttenberg Police Department was notified of the valid arrest warrants. On April 7th, 2026, the Guttenberg Police Department located Vincent Morabito, 55, of Guttenberg, and transported him to the Clayton County Jail. Morabito was charged by the Garnavillo Police Department with Harassment in the 3rd Degree, (Simple Misdemeanor), and Impersonating a Public Official (Aggravated Misdemeanor). A no-contact order was also issued as a result of the charges.
