Grant County Authorities release information on two-vehicle accidents, one involving injury

 Two-Vehicle Crash with Injuries 

On Friday, June 19, 2026, at 12:41 PM, the Grant County Sheriff's office was notified of a two-vehicle crash with reported injuries, at the intersection of CTH Z and STH 11. Along with law enforcement, emergency responders from Hazel Green Fire and EMS were dispatched to the scene.  

When deputies arrived on scene, they learned James Ashmore (78) of Livingston, had been traveling east on STH 11, in his 2016 Chevrolet Equinox. At the same time, Eli Lassen (22) of Dubuque, IA, was traveling south on CTH Z, in his 2015 Acura.  

Lassen failed to yield the right of way and pulled onto STH 11 into the path of Ashmore, causing the crash. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage, and Ashmore and his passenger were transported to Finley Hospital in Dubuque for treatment of injuries. Lassen was not injured in the crash.  

Assisting at the scene were the Hazel Green Fire Department, Hazel Green EMS, and Kieler Service Center of Kieler.  Lassen was cited for fail to yield right of way from a stop sign. 


Two-Vehicle Crash 

On Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 9:24am, the Grant County Sheriff's Office responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of E. Roosevelt St., and N. Main Street in the City of Cuba City.  

When the Sheriff's Deputy arrived on scene, he learned Nancy Ariza (35), of Richfield, MN, was stopped at the intersection on E. Roosevelt Street in her 2021 Jeep Wrangler. As Ariza attempted to turn onto N. Main St., she pulled out in front of a north bound 2021 Honda Passport, being driven by Ellen S. Henderson (72), of Galena IL. Ariza's vehicle struck Henderson's vehicle in the right rear corner.  

No one was injured in the crash. Ariza's vehicle sustained minor damage, but Henderson's vehicle sustained disabling damage. Henderson's vehicle was removed by Guy's Towing of Kieler.  

Ariza was cited for failing to yield right of way from a stop sign.
