2-Vehicle Head-On Crash

On January 1, 2026, at 12:01 A.M., the Grant County Communication Center was notified of a 2-vehicle head-on crash, on Highway 133 near James Drive in the Township of Boscobel. Along with deputies from the Sheriff's Office, Boscobel Police Department, Boscobel Fire Department, and Boscobel EMS were dispatched to the scene.

During the investigation, officers learned Tucker Christianson, 17, of rural Boscobel, was operating a 2009 Toyota Camry eastbound on Highway 133. A white Chevrolet Sonic, being operated by an unknown driver, crossed into Christianson's lane of travel, and struck the Camry on the driver's side front quarter panel. Christianson's vehicle came to rest in the South ditch, and the Sonic came to rest sideways in the eastbound lane.

When emergency services arrived on scene, the operator of the Sonic had fled the scene. Christianson had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Boscobel Fire Department and he was transported to Gundersen Boscobel Area Health Care in Boscobel, by Boscobel EMS, for treatment of suspected minor injuries.

After further investigation, it was determined Westlee Graser, 37, of Boscobel, was the owner of the Sonic. Westlee has been issued a citation for vehicle owner's liability, and this case remains under investigation.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Boscobel Fire, Boscobel EMS, and Terry's Towing of Boscobel.

One Vehicle Crash No Injury--Fail to Notify Law Enforcement

On January 1, 2026, at approximately 9:08am, the Sheriff's Office was notified of an unoccupied truck sitting in a field near the intersection of County Highway M and Bailey Road, in Hickory Grove Township. It was reported the truck had damage and appeared to have been involved in a crash.

During the investigation, it was found that Joseph Childs, 17, of Mount Hope, was operating a 2017 Ford F350, westbound on County Highway M, at approximately 1:00am. Childs attempted to turn right onto Bailey Road but failed to make the turn due to the ice/snow covered road. Childs' vehicle slid through the intersection and into a snowbank on the northwest side of the intersection. The vehicle then became airborne for a short distance, before striking a fence and a large rock in the ditch and coming to rest in a field.

Childs was not injured, but failed to notify law enforcement of the crash. The truck sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.

Childs was cited for Failure of Operator to Notify Police of an Accident and Probationary Licensee Operating a Vehicle between Midnight and 5am. The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Wegner's Auto Service/Towing out of Richland Center.
