Illinois man injured in two-vehicle accident and a Spillville man arrested after traffic stop

An Illinois man was injured in a two-vehicle accident in Winneshiek County. Authorities report the accident occurred on March 4th at 7:03am. 35-year old Daniel Rodriguez Mayo of Joliet, Illinois was operating a 2006 Honda Odyssey eastbound on Highway 9. 37-year old Justin Ray Sawyer of DeWitt was operating a 2021 Ford Ranger Pickup and began to turn from Frankville Road. Sawyer did not see a 2006 Honda Odyssey operated by 35-year old Daniel Rodriguez Mayo of Joliet, Illinois and the vehicles collided. Mayo was taken by ambulance to the WinMed Hospital for treatment, Sawyer was not injured. Damage totaled 35-thousand dollars and Sawyer was charged with Failure to Yield Upon Left Turn
