July 22nd Scores--Ed-Co moves into 1-A Title Game with Shut-Out of Exira/EHK

Rachel Eglseder of Ed-Co fired a two-hit shutout and the Vikings advanced into the Class 1-A Championship game with a 5-0 win over Number One Exira-Elk Horn/Kimbalton, their second win over the Spartans. Eglseder allowed only one runner to reach second, walked no one, and struck out eight. Eglseder added an r-b-i single to drive in the Vikings first run. Ed-Co took control by scoring four runs in the sixth inning. Faith Dugan drew a lead-off walk and then stole second and third. Ava Hoefer then delivered her second sacrifice, this time a sac fly r-b-i to make it 2-0. Eglseder walked, McKenna Hoefer then singled. Lauren Kirby hit a sacrifice fly to score Courtesy Runner Josie Diers to make it 3-0. Addi Schmelzer then doubled in Courtesy Runner Faith Kirby and then scored on Chloe Everitt’s single to close the scoring. The Vikings improve to 30 and 10 and will face Clarksville in the Final. Clarksville advanced with a 6-5 Tie-Breaking win over Fort Dodge Saint Edmund. KCTN will broadcast that game on Friday with the On-Deck Show starting at 2pm. Exira-EHK closes the season 24 and 6.
