Juvenile injured in accident near Clermont and a Wisconsin man arrested after vehicle discovered in a ditch

On January 6^th, 2026, at approximately 3:37 PM, The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Harding Road/Diamond Road. Upon Deputy arrival, it was determined that a juvenile male was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado K2500 eastbound on Harding Rd. The juvenile lost control and struck two trees in the ditch. The juvenile sustained injuries and was transported by EMS to a local hospital. The vehicle was considered to be a total loss. The juvenile was cited for Reckless Driving and Failure to Maintain Control. Fayette County was assisted by Clermont Fire Department, Clermont EMS, and Torkelson Auto.

On January 6^th, 2026, at approximately 6:55 PM, The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received multiple reports of a vehicle in the ditch near the intersection of 230^th Street/V Ave. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Jamie Alan Ruth (age 50) of Wisconsin was operating while under the influence. Subsequently, Jamie was charged with OWI 2^nd Offense and Interference with Official Acts. He was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he is being held for an initial appearance.
