Juvenile involved in an assault at Skip-A-Way Campground and a driver faces charges after one-vehicle accident

MLOn 05/16/2026 at approximately 11:15 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an assault that occurred at Skip-A-Way Campground in Clermont. When Deputies arrived, it was learned a 14 year old Juvenile had assaulted and adult female. The adult refused medical treatment. The juvenile is being referred to juvenile courts.
On May 8th, 2026, at approximately 10:58 p.m. Fayette County Deputies were called to the 18,000 block of Lincoln Road in reference to a single vehicle accident. Upon arrival it was learned the driver of the 1999 Chevy Cavalier had fled the scene. Deputies initiated an investigation and requested a drone from West Union Police Department for assistance in locating the driver. The driver Ethan Andrew Mulford, age 21, was located in a wooded area adjacent to where the accident had occurred with the assistance of the drone. After an investigation, it was learned that Mr. Mulford had lost control of his 1999 Chevy Cavalier, causing him to travel first to the east shoulder of the road/ditch. Mr. Mulford struck a mailbox, came out of the ditch, and traveled across the center line and into the west ditch. Upon entering the west ditch, the vehicle slid down the embankment before reaching its final resting place on the north side of a creek. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was deemed to be a total loss. Mr. Mulford was suspected of impairment and subsequent to the investigation was charged with operating while intoxicated first offense and striking fixtures upon a highway, failure to maintain control, and failure to provide financial liability- accident related. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the West Union Police Department, Fayette Ambulance, Torkelson Motors, and Fayette Fire Department.
