Lyndon Dean Meyer, age 62, of Garnavillo, IA passed away peacefully with his daughter by his side on Monday, May 25th 2026 at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital after battling pancreatic cancer.
Lyndon was born on May, 5th 1964 to Curtis and Lola (Tomkins) Meyer. He graduated from Guttenberg High School in 1982. After high school, Lyndon milked cows and was farm help to many local farmers including Dwight and Mary Freitag of Elkader, Larry Landsgard of Postville, Jim and Brenda Meier of Garnavillo, Jerry Schaefers of Garnavillo, John and LuAnn Hunt of Edgewood, Mark and Barb Meyer of Colesberg, and others. Lyndon began his professional career at Mini Toys in Guttenberg and then transitioned to Guttenberg Industries in August of 1987 where he was proudly employed for the Ertl family for 38 years until he passed. In his spare time, Lyndon established Meyer’s Contractors LBJ and worked as a local handyman employing friends and his daughters. Lyndon was a dedicated member of the Garnavillo Fire Department for over 31 years. He enjoyed serving on the board, walking in the 4th of July parades, and working the pancake breakfasts. He also enjoyed any opportunity to go dancing and to share a Crown and Coke with friends.
Lyndon is survived by his mother, Lola Meyer; daughters, Joy (Mason) Zimmer of DeForest, WI, and Bethany (Luke) Kreiter of Windsor, WI; grandson, Curtis Kreiter; brothers, Dan Meyer of Guttenberg, IA and Dave (Heather; Alex, Oksana) Meyer of Palm Harbor, FL; former wife and mother of his children, Deborah (McClintock) Meyer of Sun Prairie, WI along with many cousins, aunts, relatives, and friends.
Lyndon was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Meyer in 2010; uncles Ron Meyer in 2016 and Harlan Meyer in 2022.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 6th from 2pm-7pm at the Garnavillo Fire Station.
Memorial Funds can be made to the Garnavillo Fire Department.
