Margaret E. Nefzger of Delaware

Margaret E. Nefzger, 89, of Delaware, Iowa, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2026, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. She was born on February 4, 1937, the daughter of Joseph and Martha (Hess) Nachtmann. As a child she attended school at the Little Red School House near Manchester.
On September 25, 1958, Margaret was united in marriage to Robert Nefzger at St. Jospeh Catholic Church in Prairieburg. Five children were born to this union. Together they lived in Delhi for many years until eventually moving to Delaware in 1982. Margaret was a brake press operator at Ertl Toy Company in Dyersville. She also sold Tupperware and Stanley Home Products. For many years she was a 4-H Leader for the M&M Farmerettes. She also volunteered at Plagman’s Barn and cooked meals at the Greeley meal site. She was a faithful member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Delhi. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking, crocheting and flower gardening. Margaret loved listening to Randy Travis and collected candles, bells, and shot glasses.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; her children Dianne (Charles Yedlik) Hauschild of Vinton, Dennis Nefzger of Vinton, Marvin Nefzger of Earlville, Armella (Chuck Huff) Thompson of Bloomington, Illinois, and Roberta (Leon Wickman) Nefzger of Manchester; seven grandchildren Kristopher (Lacy Woodward) Nefzger, Eric (Aubrey) Johnston, Jennifer (Eric) Terrell, Colton (Leah Neiers) Nefzger, Bethany Steichen, Nicholas (Jenn) Habel, Jenna (Fiancé Luke Bandy) Nefzger; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law Mary Ann Nachtmann, Linda Nachtmann, and Carmen Werner.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Ritamae (Ronald) Palmer, Norbert Nachtmann, and James (Mary Lou) Nachtmann; daughter-in-law Diane Lynn Nefzger; parents-in-law Clarene & Angie Nefzger; and brothers-in-law Pat Nefzger and Joe Werner.
The family would like to thank Care Initiatives Hospice and the Good Neighbor Home for their wonderful care and compassion for Margaret.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 21, 2026, at St. John Catholic Church in Delhi.
Visitation: 4:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester. Friends may also call from 9:00-10:15 a.m. on Friday at the church.
Rosary: 3:30 p.m., Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester.
Interment: St. John’s Cemetery in Delhi.
