McGregor Man Arrested for Assault; McGregor Man Chrarges After Accident; Sherill Man Arrested After Traffic Stop

This arrest stems from a traffic stop on Highway 52 near the intersection of Highway 13 for a traffic violation.On September 16, 2026, at approximately 3:00 a.m., Clayton County deputies arrested Blaine Smith, 35, of McGregor, for domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness and obstructing an emergency communication. This arrest stems from a reported assault near Froelich Road in rural McGregor.

On September 19, 2026, at approximately 4:15 a.m., the Clayton County Communication Center received a report of a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Great River Road and Island Road in rural Guttenberg. Upon arrival, deputies determined that Kenneth Feran, 49, of Guttenberg, was northbound on Great River Road in his 1998 Chevrolet Malibu when he was sideswiped by James Coburn, 21, of McGregor, who was southbound on Great River Road in his 2010 Ford Focus. As a result of the investigation, Coburn was arrested and charged with operating while under the influence—first offense; driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway; and failure to provide proof of financial liability—accident related. Both vehicles received disabling damage, and no injuries were reported. Assisting the Clayton County Sheriff's Office on scene were Guttenberg Ambulance Service, Guttenberg Fire Department, and Bud's Repair & Towing.

On September 20, 2026, at approximately 4:50 p.m., Clayton County deputies arrested Kenneth Hafele, 60, of Sherill, for driving while license suspended. This arrest stems from a report of trespassing on Walnut Street in North Buena Vista.
