Union Man and 10-Year Old Killed in Car-UTV Accident in Dubuque County. Five Others Injured

On August 8, 2026 at approximately 2121 hours, the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office,
Peosta Police Department, Cascade EMS, Dyersville Bi-County Ambulance, Farley Fire
Department and EMS, Epworth Fire and EMS and Worthington Fire Department responded to
the intersection of East Worthington Rd and Comer Rd for a car vs. UTV accident with multiple
patients. One person was found to be deceased on scene. Six people were transported to the
hospital, all with serious to life threatening injuries. One of these subjects was declared
deceased at the hospital. The accident remains under investigation. The names of the victims
are being withheld until 2200 hours on August 9, 2026, pending family notification.

The deceased individuals in this incident are as follows:
Joshua Tack, 33, of Union, IA, was transported to Mercy One Hospital in Dubuque. Tack later
died of his injuries at the hospital.
A 10-year old juvenile was declared deceased on scene as a result of injuries sustained in the
accident.
The accident remains under investigation at this time.
