UW-Platteville Student Deaths

(Platteville, WI) -- Authorities are investigating the deaths of two students at UW-Platteville. Few details have been made available about the incident that led to the deaths of 22-year-old Kelsie Martin and 22-year-old Hallie Helms. Police say that there is not an ongoing threat to others. Details are limited on the incident that led to a shelter in place order at UW-Platteville yesterday afternoon. Campus safety officials sent out the alert shortly before 4:30 p.m. The order was lifted a short time later and the Grant County coroner was called to a student residence hall. Since then, university leaders have cancelled final exams for the week and have offered counseling services for students.
