Waucoma woman injured in two-vehicle accident and Authorities release information on two arrest incidents

A Waucoma woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident in Winneshiek County. 61-year old Kelli Ann Drilling was taken by EMS to WinnMed Medical Center. The accident happened on June 22nd at 11:35am. Drilling was operating a 2024 Jeep Wagoner on Iowa 150 north, Highway 52 north, and Iowa 24 east. Drilling made a left hand turn at the intersection and struck a 2025 Toyota Coaster operated by 72-year old Kim Evan Thomas of Springville. The Drilling vehicle went over the hood and windshield of the Thomas vehicle, causing it to roll. Thomas was not injured. Damage totaled 15-thousand dollars. Drilling was charged with a Turning at Intersection Violation.

Incident/Charge: Simple Misdemeanor Public Intoxication, Three Counts of Aggravated Misdemeanor Assault on Law Enforcement and D Felony Possession of Contraband in a Correctional Institution

Incident Details: Irene Archer was dropped off at the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office to turn herself in for an arrest warrant. Archer also admitted stealing alcohol from Walmart and then drinking it. Archer was placed under arrest and escorted to the Winneshiek County Jail. During the book in process Archer made threats of physical harm towards one of the deputies and then struck that deputy in the arm and then head butted him in the chest. Archer also kicked another deputy.

After being booked into the Winneshiek County Jail, the Sheriff’s Office obtained information that Archer had brought contraband into the jail in a body cavity, which was later confirmed.

Archer was charged with:

  • Simple Misdemeanor Public Intoxication

  • Three Counts of Aggravated Misdemeanor Assault on Law Enforcement

  • D Felony Possession of Contraband in a Correctional Institution

On June 23, 2026, while incarcerated in the Winneshiek County Jail, Irene Archer was served an arrest warrant for failure to report to jail. Archer remains incarcerated in the Winneshiek County Jail on a $12,500 cash bond.

Incident Details: The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on 254th Street. Subsequently, the driver, Jacob Wurst was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail for Simple Misdemeanor Interference with Official Acts, Driving with a suspended license, Contempt – Obstruct/Resist Withdrawl of Specimen.
