Council Chambers, City Hall, March 2, 2026, at 6:00 P.M.

West Union City Council met March 2 2026, at 6:00 P.M. in Council Chambers with Mayor Kent Halverson presiding. The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance.


Attendance Present: Becthold, DeBack, Gumm, McElree, and Tope.


Approval of the Motion to approve the agenda, adding Minutes of February 16 Budget Work

Agenda Session and February 24 Budget Work Session to #2, was made by Gumm,

seconded by Becthold. All Aye. Carried.


Approval of Motion to approve the February 16, 2026, Regular Council Meeting minutes, the

Minutes February 16 Budget Work Session minutes, and the February 24 Budget Work Session minutes as presented was made by Gumm, seconded by Tope. All Aye. Carried.


Approval of Street Motion to approve E Elm St closure for Napa Car Shows on May 28, June 25,

Permits July 23, August 27, and September 24 was made by Tope, seconded by McElree.

All Aye. Carried.


Approval of Street Motion to approve street closures for NFV Walking on Sunshine 5k on April 25

Closures for NFV was made by Becthold, seconded by DeBack. All Aye. Carried. Student Council

Walking on Sunshine will work with WU Police Dept to secure route.

Approval to Set Motion to approve setting the Property Tax Levy Public Hearing for April 6,

Property Tax Levy 2026, was made by DeBack, seconded by Becthold. All Aye. Carried.

Discuss Testing After some discussion, motion to approve testing granite chips in Streetscape

Alternative Materials pavers was made by Becthold, seconded by DeBack. All Aye. Carried.

On Streetscape Pavers


Update on Snow Administrator Wallis discussed processes for snow removal and continuing to

Removal work on those into the next winter season.


Comments and Council confirmed that moving forward with concrete for downtown sidewalks

Items to Discuss was due to the possible failure of pavers again in the near future and that concrete

would be much easier to maintain.


Aaron from Tree Doctor Services put forth recommendations on servicing City

ash trees, as they have done in the past. Council will hear proposal at the next

Council meeting.


Next Council Next regular council meeting will be March 16, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in

Meeting Council Chambers.


Adjourn With no further business to bring before the Council, a motion was made by

                                     DeBack, seconded by Becthold, to adjourn. All Aye. Carried.
