Incident Details: The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a male sleeping in his vehicle on Valdres Road. When a deputy arrived, the vehicle left the scene at a high rate of speed and failed to come to a complete stop at a stop sign. The vehicle continued at a high rate of speed, crossed the center line and failed to pull over. Ultimately the vehicle did stop on County Road W42. The driver, John Steffens was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail for serious misdemeanor operating while under the influence.
