Central School Board Meeting Minutes from April 14th

CCENTRAL COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT 

ELKADER, IOWA 

April 14, 2026– 6:00 PM 

Board Meeting 

President Josh Embretson called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM. Board Present: Jarod Bormann, Abby Heitman, Andrew Clark, Jared Funk, and Josh Embretson 

Board Absent: Michael Whittle and Marcus Belser 

Staff: Micah Gearhart and Allison Walch 

Approved Agenda 

Abby Heitman made a motion to approve the agenda for April 14, 2026. Andrew Clark seconded. Motion carried. 5-0 

Work Session-District Financial Health and Projections 

The Central School Board reviewed the five-year projection model, focusing on enrollment and expenditures. The board also discussed the current health insurance plans and explored new options to improve cost efficiency while maintaining the same coverage for staff. Additionally, the board reviewed the Certified Employee Compensation plan for the 2026-2027 school year. 

Exempt Session-To discuss strategy in matters related to employment conditions of employees not covered by the collective bargaining law. Iowa Code 21.9. 

The board went into the exempt session at 6:41 PM. 

The board returned to open session at 8:32 PM. 

Adjournment 

Abby Heitman made a motion to adjourn the meeting. 

Jared Funk seconded. Motion carried. 5-0 

The meeting adjourned at 8:32 PM.
