Clayton County Authorities release information on fatal motorcycle accident involving a Garber man

On June 16, 2026, at approximately 10:09 a.m., Clayton County deputies responded to a motorcycle crash near the intersection of Highway 13 and Emerald Drive. Upon arrival, deputies determined that a black 2004 Big Dog Chopper motorcycle was traveling northbound on Highway 13 when the driver lost control. The driver, later identified as Luke Lott, 46, of Garber, entered the east ditch and was thrown from the motorcycle. Lott was airlifted from the scene in critical condition and later died from injuries sustained in the crash. Assisting the Clayton County Sheriff's Office at the scene were the Elkader Police Department, Elkader Fire Department, Mercy-One Elkader Ambulance, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, and Gundersen Air 2.
