Fayette Man Faces Charges After Striking a Bridge and Details Released on Minor Accident and Arrest

On August 22, 2026, at approx. 1:35 PM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle accident that struck a bridge head on. After further investigation, it was determined that Christopher Lee Becker, age 43 of Fayette, was operating a Red 1980 GMC Sierra Classic 15 west bound when he lost control and struck a bridge head on. The GMC is a total loss. The bridge sustained minimal damage. Becker Gundersen Hospital by Fayette Ambulance and later released. He was arrested and charged with Driving While License Revoked (Serious Misdemeanor), Failure to have SR22 Insurance (Simple Misdemeanor), Failure to Maintain Control (Simple Misdemeanor), and Failure to maintain Safety Belt (Citation). The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Fayette Fire Department, Fayette Ambulance, and Iowa State Patrol. This accident remains under investigation.

On 8/21/2026 at approximately 11:52, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call of a vehicle vs deer accident on Highway 150 near 130th Street, approximately one mile south of Fayette. After further investigation, it was determined that Shane Andrew Rieck, age 36 of Palo, was operating a Blue 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Touring Van southbound when he struck a deer in the traveled portion of the roadway. No injuries were reported. The Chrysler sustained approximately $1500 in damages.
On 8-21-26 at approx.. 12:00 p.m. the Fayette County Sheriff's Office arrested Tristen M. Kuker, 29 of Fredericksburg on a Fayette County arrest warrant. The warrant was for Voluntary Absence from Custody and bond was set in the amount of $1500.00 cash only. Kuker was taken into custody at the Winneshiek County Jail and transported to the Fayette County jail where he is being held.
