Maynard Man Faces a Number of Charges After Assault Incident and Separate Warrant Arrests

On July 26th, 2026, at approximately 1:31 a.m. Fayette County Deputies were called to the 600 block of Main Street West, in Maynard, in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival deputies were informed of an alleged domestic abuse assault. Upon conducting the investigation, James William Hanson, age 29 of Maynard, was arrested and charged with simple Domestic Abuse Assault (First Offense).  James Hanson was transported to the Fayette County Jail and held pending appearance in court.  Later that morning, James Hanson received an initial appearance from a Magistrate Judge and was released on a $1000 unsecured bond, a Promise to Appear in court, and served a No Contact Order to stay away from the victim.  At approximately 11:25am after James Hanson was released, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from the victim stating James was at the victim's residence and accompanied by Cheryl Cayot Hanson, age 59 of Fayette.  Deputies conducted an investigation and arrested James Hanson for Violation of a No Contact Order (Simple Misdemeanor), and then arrested Cheryl Hanson for Accessory after the Fact (Simple Misdemeanor) and Harassment 3rd Degree (Simple Misdemeanor). Both were transported to the Fayette County Jail and await an initial appearance in court.

 

On July 25th, 2026 a Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Deputy arrested 18 year old Carter Roelfsema of Oelwein on an active Fayette County Arrest Warrant for 2 counts of Theft in the 5th Degree. Roelfsema was transported to the Fayette County jail where he later posted a $300 bond.

 

On July 25th, 2026 at approximately 12:21 pm a Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Deputy arrested 43 year old Jade Nuehring of Fayette on a valid Fayette County Arrest Warrant for 2 counts of Theft in the Fifth Degree. Nuehring was transported to the Fayette County Jail where she later posted $300 bond.
