Patrick John Pope, 64, of Volga, Iowa, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. He was born on February 10, 1961, in Manchester, the son of John and Catherine (Bennington) Pope. Pat was a 1979 graduate of Central High School in Elkader.
On September 19, 1980, Pat was united in marriage to Joan Moyle at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Five children were born to this union. Pat was a very hard worker his entire life. In early years, he enjoyed working on the family farm with his parents, who he was very close to. Later, Pat began working for Seedorf Masonry and then Moyle Masonry until his retirement in 2023.
Pat loved spending time at their cabin along the Mississippi River near Harpers Ferry. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved deer camp, which he often hosted. Pat was a collector of International tractors. He loved to garden and spend time in his garage with his family and friends. Pat cherished his grandchildren and included them in all these activities.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Joan Pope of Volga; his five children, John (Katie) Pope, of Arlington, Matt (Amy) Pope of Volga, Kelsey (Justin) Mueller of Elkader, Kandice Pope of Elkader, and Kristen (Chris) Doeppke of Monona; 10 grandchildren, Dane Pope, Mylee Mueller, Madelyn Pope, Nolan Pope, Hadley Mueller, Jace Pope, Brady Pope, Maysen Doeppke, Evelyn Kelly, Baylor Doeppke, and Baby Doeppke on the way; three siblings, Ray (Jane) Pope, Bob (Lisa) Pope, and Cathy (Jay) Mills all of Strawberry Point; and mother-in-law, Mary Moyle.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Dennis McTaggart; and father-in-law, Les Moyle.
