Fayette County Releases

On 3-9-25, at approximately 3:00 AM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls in the 14,000 block of V Avenue, Sumner IA.  Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area, and it was found a single vehicle accident had occurred with 1 occupant.  Driver of the vehicle refused to identify himself to law enforcement and was detained during the investigation. The driver of the vehicle, Kyle Thomas Voy, 22 of Oelwein IA, was southbound on V Avenue, when he lost control of his vehicle and went into the ditch.  Voy was taken into custody for Interference With Official Acts, Open Container, and Failure to Maintain Control, all simple misdemeanors.  Damage to the 2013 Ford F-250 was considered a total loss.  Fayette Conty Sheriff’s Office was assisted by SIMS Sumner Ambulance service.   This accident remains under investigation, and more charges could be pending at a later time.   




 

On 3-7-25, at approximately 6:10 PM, Fayette County Sheriff’s received a trespass complaint in the city of Wadena IA.   Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies responded, identified subject, warned and advised subject to stay away from property, and gave the subject a ride home.  At approximately 11:00PM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was notified again of a trespass of the same individual yelling, possibly intoxicated, and knocking on windows.  Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area.  After an investigation, Sharnel Ann Voshell, 41 of Wadena IA, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Offense, a Class D Felony, Public Intoxication, Trespassing, and Interference With Official Act, all simple misdemeanors.  Voshell was taken into custody and transported to Fayette County Jail, where she awaited initial appearance.

On March 4th, 2025 at approximately 1:11pm the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a domestic assault. When deputies arrived it was learned that Gary McNamara and Audrey Moritz had assaulted each other. Both McNamara and Moritz were charged with Domestic Abuse Assault and transported to the Fayette County Jail where they awaited their initial appearance and were later released on bond.

 

On March 7, 2025, at approximately 09:45am, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a report of a vehicle in the ditch in the 26,000 block of Juniper Road, approximately four miles north of West Union. After further investigation, it was determined that Asiah Lashea’ Turner, age 21 of West Union, was operating a Brown 2011 Honda CRV south bound when she lost control due to weather conditions and entered the west side ditch, striking small trees and a fence. Turner reported no injuries. The Honda sustained approximately $3000 in damages. This accident remains under investigation.
