GRANT COUNTY, WI — In honor of National Police Week (May 12–18, 2025), Grant County officials invite all residents, businesses, and community organizations to join in a special tribute to law enforcement by “painting the town blue.”
As a visible show of support and appreciation, the community is encouraged to decorate homes, storefronts, and public spaces with blue lights, ribbons, and signage throughout the week. This grassroots effort honors the dedication, courage, and sacrifice of the men and women in law enforcement — especially those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
In a powerful visual tribute, the Grant County Courthouse Dome will be illuminated in blue from May 12th through May 18th. The lighting is a solemn symbol of respect for fallen officers and a beacon of gratitude to all who serve and protect our communities.
“Painting our town in blue is a simple but meaningful way for us to unite and appreciate our law enforcement officers,” said Grant County Sheriff Craig Reukauf. “We invite everyone to participate and help us send a strong message of support.”
National Police Week was established in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy to pay special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
Grant County encourages all residents and businesses to display blue lights, hang banners, wear blue, or get creative in showing their appreciation throughout the week.
Let’s unite as a community to show gratitude and honor those who serve.
