11-Area Fire Departments receive grants to protect Iowan's and their property from wildfires
Nearly $350,000 in 50 percent cost-share grants were recently awarded to 105 Iowa rural fire departments to help their efforts to protect Iowan’s and their property from wildfires. The grants offer valuable funding assistance for wildfire suppression, personal protective and communications equipment. Juvenile injured in accident near Clermont and a Wisconsin man arrested after vehicle discovered in a ditch
On January 6 th , 2026, at approximately 3:37 PM, The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Harding Road/Diamond Road. Upon Deputy arrival, it was determined that a juvenile male was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado K2500 eastbound on Harding Rd. The juvenile lost control and struck two trees in the ditch. Prairie du Chien City Council reaches conract agreement with the Police Union
The Prairie du Chien City Council reached a three-year agreement with the Police Union. The deal includes a $1 an hour wage increase along with a two-percent raise. The 2027 package includes a two-percent raise at the beginning of the year and on July 1 st . The 2028 package includs a $1 an hour wage increase in January, a two-percent raise in July and a one-percent raise on December 1 st , 2028.
