On March 9 th , 2026, at approximately 9:50pm, Fayette County Deputies were dispatched to a UTV accident near the intersection of 200 th  Street & P Ave, Hawkeye, IA. After further investigation it was determined that Christopher Alan Cosgriff (age 40) of Maynard, IA was operating his 2021 Polaris Ranger UTV when he lost control of the vehicle and went into the ditch. On March 1, 2026, at approximately 0753 hours, the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, and Centralia/Peosta Fire Department responded to the intersection of the Hwy 20 eastbound off ramp and Sundown Rd for a report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Investigation showed the driver, Marvin Jarding (85 yoa) of Farley, was travelling eastbound on Hwy 20. He exited Hwy 20 onto the eastbound off-ramp at Peosta. The Elkader City Council approved entering into a General Obligation Acquisition Loan Agreement. It involves borrowing an estimated 247-thousand dollars towards the purchase of a new ambulance. The new unit is expected to arrive early next year. The Council also approved the disposition of the Fire Departments 1989 Freightliner(uni-mog vehicle) for 43-thousand-four hundred dollars.

The Guttenberg City Council approved the first reading of an ordinance for rezoning the former Masonic Temple Building from Single Family Residential to General Office and Retail. Steve and Penny Rausch are interested in turning the building into an Event Space. The Council approved closing city offices on April 15 th  for Office Staff Training. They also approved the purchase of an Envelope Inserter device to be used for city billing at a cost of eight-thousand dollars.

The Ed-Co School Board approved the contract agreement with the Ed-Co Teachers Association. The total package increase is 3.6-percent. The Board set the first public hearing on the District Budget for March 24 th at 5:30pm in the Colesburg Center. The second public hearing will be held on April 13 th  at 6pm at the Edgewood Center. The Prairie du Chien School Board set March 16 th  as the date for Operating Referendum Informational Meetings at 12:30pm and 6:30pm in the Prairie du Chien Area Arts Center. The vote on the referendum will be held on April 7 th . They approved the sale of a house on 705 South Buchanon Street and the house on 800 East Taylor Street owned by the District. An Illinois man was injured in a two-vehicle accident in Winneshiek County.
