On December 15 th , 2025, at approximately 9:02 pm, Fayette County Deputies investigated a Violation of a No-Contact Order at 859 High St. Arlington. During the investigation, a search warrant was later executed, Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Eric William Halverson age 59 of Arlington. On December 16, 2025, at 12:30PM the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a call of an assault that had occurred at 1003 Larrabee Street in the City of Clermont.  When Deputies arrived, it was learned that a female was assaulted and the suspect left the scene.  After an investigation, the male, later identified as 45-year-old Matthew Wilker of Clermont, was arrested and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury (Serious Misdemeanor).  He was transported to the Fayette Co

The Prairie du Chien City Council authorized going out for bids for the estimated 1.9-million dollar Illinois Street Improvement Project. Bids will be due by January 28th and will be awarded on February 17th. The Central School Board approved an agreement with Superintendent Micah Gearhart for the 26-27 School year, removing the Interim tag from his position. The Monona City Council was introduced to new Police Chief Mitchell Jipson. Jipson is from Guttenberg and previously worked with the Peosta Police Department. A new trial will be held for an Edgewood woman who had been sentenced to 10-years in prison in connection with a fatal UTV accident. 29-year old Hannah L. Meese pleaded guilty to one count of homocide by vehicle-reckless driving. Meese was charged in connection with a May 2021 UTV accident in which she lost control of the vehicle. Meese and a passenger, 32-year old Jordan C. Cabalka of Edgewood were ejected from the vehicle. Cabalka died from inuries sustained in the acciden

(Maynard, IA) -- A barn fire sends huge clouds of black smoke into the air on Monday morning. The barn in Maynard was fully engulfed in flames when fire officials arrived around 8:00 a.m. No people or animals were injured. The Maynard Fire Department was joined by the Westgate Fire Department, Fayette County Roads, REC Power Company and Smith Excavating to help extinguish the blaze.

Two-Vehicle Crash  On December 12, 2025, at approximately 7:09 a.m., the Grant County Sheriff's Office was notified of a two-vehicle crash on CTH H, near the intersection of Dry Hollow Rd, in Jamestown Township. During the investigation it was determined Brock Smothers, 17, of Kieler, was traveling south on CTH H, in a 2022 Nissan Rogue, when he lost control of the vehicle, crossed the center line, and struck a 2025 Kia Sorento, being driven by Jolene Murray, 54, also of Kiel
