Fayette County Authorities release information on a number of arrest and accident reports
On July 4th, 2026, at approximately 4PM, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a reported Violation of No Contact/Protective Order near Hawkeye, IA. Upon Deputy arrival, it was discovered that Mark Shannon Opperman (age 51) of Hawkeye, violated his No Contact/Protective Order that was in place. Waterloo man seriously injured in motorcycle accident and two arrest incidents in Winneshiek County
A Waterloo man was seriously injured when his motorcycle struck a deer in Winneshiek County. 30-year old Kaleb David Breitspecher was injured in the accident. Authorities report that the accident happened on June 30th at 9:36pm. Breitspecher was operating a 2018 Harley Davidson and was traveling on Highway 24 when he collided with a deer. 14-year old Dyersville girl dies following watercraft collision in Clear Lake
(Clear Lake, IA) -- One teen is dead and another teen is in serious condition after a watercraft collision on Clear Lake in Northern Iowa. The Department of Natural Resources says two personal watercrafts carrying five people crashed the evening of July 4 near the MacIntosh Woods State Park boat ramp. Oelwein man arrested on Burglary Warrant
At 12:54pm on July 2, 2026, Oelwein Police arrested Cyle Bruce Moser, 57, of Oelwein. Moser was arrested on a Fayette County warrant for an original charge of 3rg Degree Burglary (Motor Vehicle) - Aggravated Misdemeanor. The arrest was made near the intersection of 20th St SE and Palace Rd.

Two people injured in two-vehicle accident in Fayette County
On 7/2/2026 at approximately 906 AM, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a call of a two vehicle accident at 160th St. and S Ave. Upon arrival, it was determined that Peter Tweed (75 y/o from Ossian) was traveling west bound on 160th St. and Kerry Richards (54 y/o from Sumner) was traveling north bound on S Ave when their vehicles collided. West Union woman escapes injury in minor accident and a Fayette man arrested on warrant
On 7-1-26, at approximately 9:25PM, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a report of a car vs deer accident in 28,000 Block of Harding Rd. Clermont IA. It was found that Michelle Crandall, 48 of West Union, was travelling northeast on Harding Rd. when a deer came into the roadway, striking the vehicle. Man pleads guilty to lacing a Lasagna and give it to a pregnant woman
(Decorah, IA) -- A man accused of lacing a lasagna and giving it to a pregnant woman is pleading guilty. Prosecutors say Matthew Uthoff and Amber Snow, his wife, laced the food with oxycodone and gave it to the woman in December. Investigators say they were trying to get the woman to miscarry.
