Friends of Pool 9 is spearheading this year’s Mississippi River Clean-Up Day on Pool 9 on Saturday, April 18 from 8:00 am to noon. Teams will gather at DeSoto WI, Blackhawk Park, WI, Ferryville, Lansing, and New Albin. Through Friends of Pool 9 efforts almost 100 tons of debris have been collected through the years. On April 3, 2026, at 8:20AM, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a call from the West Union Residential Facility in reference to a person who arrived that wasn't valid to drive. Upon investigation, 47-year-old Nancy Lynn Harkin of Arlington, was arrested and charged with Driving While License Revoked. Harkin was transported to the Fayette County Jail where she was held for an initial appearance in court.

A complaint was received from a local resident of an ongoing harassment issue in late February of 2026. The resident reported that they were receiving unwanted and alarming contact from a male suspect who resided in Guttenberg. The Garnavillo Police Department made contact with the male suspect and warned him that any further contact would result in criminal charges from this department.
