House destroyed, nearby home damaged by fire in Garber
A house was destroyed and a nearby home was damaged in a fire that occurred in Garber. Six area fire departments were called at around 1pm on Wednesday to the Dirk Fishback home, located near the Anchor Inn. The fire started near the garage and the small home is a total loss. (Johnson County, IA) -- Multiple brush fires are burning through the state as of Wednesday night. One of the largest is a 500-acre fire in Johnson County. Prairie du Chien City Council approves bid for Illinois Street Reconstruction Project
Prairie du Chien City Council approved a bid for Illinois Street Reconstruction Project. The project totals nearly 1.4-million and includes street, water and sewage work from Washington to Webster Street. A start date has not been determined. Delaware County Authorities release information on four separate accidents
Delaware County Authorities released information on three separate accidents. On February 12 th at 7:40pm, 32-year old Jacob Daniel Salisbury of Independence was operating a 2024 Grove Crane . Salisbury was backing onto the roadway on Highway 13. 70-year old Ronald Dean Weyant of Manchester was operating a 2024 Ford F-15 and failed to see the stop signs being used for the crane to back out. Oelwein man arrested on warrant, Garnavillo woman charged with burglary, three-vehicle accident and a theft arrest
On 2-17-26 at approximately 8:45 a.m. a Fayette County Deputy arrested John A. Kringlen, 64 of Oelwein. Kringlen turned himself into the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and was booked into the Fayette County jail. Kringlen was wanted for possession of marijuana 3 rd or subsequent offense, class D felony. Bond was set in the amount of $5000.00 cash or surety. At 6:19pm on February 14, 2026, Oelwein Police responded to a two-vehicle accident in the 10 block of 1st St SE.
