Aurora man on escape status from the West Union Residential Facility is apprehended
On January 27, 2026, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office arrested 40-year-old Joshua Allen Chamberlain of Aurora after being placed on escape status from the West Union Residential Facility. Buchanan County Sheriff's Office located him at a residence in Aurora, and then he was transferred to the Fayette County Jail where he is being held .

Minnesota man arrested on possession and other charges after traffic stop in Crawford County
Town of Freeman, Wis. - On Saturday, January 24th, 2026, at approximately 11:56 p.m., Sheriff Dale McCullick reports that the Crawford County Sheriff's Office initiated a traffic stop on vehicle for traveling completely in the wrong lane on WI-STH 35 near WI-STH 82. Delaware County Arrests and Accident report
Two people escaped injury in connection with a one-vehicle accident in Delaware County. The accident occurred on January 17th at 3:26am on Highway 20. 53-year old Tammy Sue Herrington was operating a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox eastbound. The vehicle crossed the lanes and struck the guardrail, then crossed the eastbound lanes again and came to rest in the ditch. On January 26, 2026 at approximately 11:54 PM the Fayette County Sheriff's Office responded to a single vehicle accident on Highway 18 and Ironwood Road. Upon investigation it was determined a 17 year old female was traveling east on Highway 18 when she lost control of her 2018 Honda Accord and entered the ditch, striking a fence. Rural Epworth Machine Shed destroyed in late night fire.
On January 23, 2026 at 11:43 pm, Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office along with Epworth Fire Department, Farley Fire Department, and Centralia Fire Department responded to 7034 Then Rd for a report of a structure fire. A 40 ft x 120 ft machine shed, owned by Kenneth Hosch, was fully engulfed. Oelwein woman cited in connection with a two-vehicle accident
At around 5:00pm on January 22, 2026, Oelwein Police responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of 10th St SE and Rock Island Rd. A red 2014 Honda Odyssey, driven by Peyton Collins of Oelwein, was struck by a black 2021 Hyundai Tucson, driven by Deidra Silvanage of Oelwein. Arline Inn Tavern a total loss in fire south of Dubuque
On January 22, 2026 at approximately 1447 hours, the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office along with Key West Fire, Dubuque Fire and East Dubuque Fire responded to 10784 Highway 61, The Airline Inn, in reference to a structure fire. Prarie du Chien City Council begins the process to accept bids for the Public Safety Center

McGregor City Council approves the hiring of new City Clerk
The McGregor City Council approved the hiring of Patti Ruff as City Clerk. Ruff is a former State Representative and recently served as the Clayton County Health Sanitarian.
