The Monona City Council approved the annual funding for the Monona Chamber and Economic Development group for 16-thousand dollars. The Council approved installation of the K9 and Prisoner Transport system not to exceed 10-thousand-seven-hundred dollars. At 4:23pm on January 19, 2026, Oelwein Police arrested Garry Lee Cavett, 43, of Maynard.  Cavett was charged with Child Endangerment (Bodily Injury) - Class D Felony.   The arrest was made in the 700 block of Rock Island Rd following reports of a male subject assaulting a minor.

On January 17 th , 2026, at approximately 9:38 pm a Fayette County deputy arrested Nathaniel Jeffery Rohrick age 33 of Oelwein. Nathaniel Rohrick had an active arrest warrant for Failure to appear. On January 12 th , 2026, at approximately 3:16 p.m., a Garnavillo police officer was on routine patrol in the city when they observed a vehicle with out of state plates that had been in front of them by happenstance pull into a local business after noticing the officer behind them. An Elkport woman has been found guilty on three charges in connection with a fatal accident in Clayton County. Susan J. Steve was found guilty of Homicide by Vehicle, Serious Injury by Vehicle and Possession of Marijuana. The Marquette City Council approved their share of the Police Commission Budget for next fiscal year. The total budget will see a 13-percent increase for McGregor and Marquette up to 232-thousand for each community. The city of Marquette will see a 27-thousand dollar increase.

The Clayton County Board of Supervisors voted 2-1 to not record or live stream the Board of Supervisors meetings. Ray Peterson and Steve Doeppke voted against the issue and Doug Reimer was the vote for it. The Supervisors approved a three -year lease agreement for 57-acres of land to Anthony Heitman. The land is located on Sandpit Road near the old County Building in Elkader.

The Postville School Board approved additional positions for the 26-27 School year. They include a 6th Grade Teacher, Curriculum/Preschool Director and a new Full-Time Custodian.
