The Iowa State Patrol reports that a Hopkinton man was killed and two-people were seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident that occurred Saturday near Worthington. 82-year old Lorin R. Schmidt died from injuries sustained in the accident. 81-year old Marylin M. Kern and 81-year old Leon E. Kern, both of New Vienna were seriously injured. A Manchester woman was injured in a car-semi accident that occurred near Dyersville. The Iowa State Patrol reports that on November 12 th at 9:30am, 37-year old Erin M. Conners of Manchester was operating a 2019 Ford Sedan and was eastbound on Highway. 65-year old Joseph L. Green of Cascade was operating a 1993 Freightliner Semi. The Volga City Council held the regular monthly meeting on Monday, November 10, 2025 at 601 Washington Street on the library side. Mayor Elaine Follon called the meeting to order at 7:00pm. On November 10th, 2025, at approximately 3:58 pm, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call regarding a two-vehicle accident near the intersection 150th St. and W Ave. Upon arrival by Deputies, it was learned that Derek Joseph Ihde age 34 of Maynard was traveling north bound on W Ave in a 2021 Ram 3500 pulling anhydrous ammonia tanks when a 17 year old male rear-ended the anhydrous ammonia tanks and went into the ditch. The Marquette City Council approved amending the current budget by 436-thousand dollars. Most of the expense dealt with projects that were started last budget year and completed in this years budget. The Guttenberg City Council held discussion on two ordinance issues concerning residential housing. The Council approved an ordinance that adds zoning to the C-1 District that involves adding residential. They held the first reading of an ordinance in regards to residential on the ground floor in the C-2 District. That would involve having up to 70-percent of an area being a residential unit. Main Street Elkader made a presentation to the Elkader City Council on a proposed vacant building ordinance. The ordinance includes building owners to register their vacant building and be inspected. The Postville School Board approved the hiring of Sean Singewald as Junior High Boys Wrestling Coach. The Board accepted the resignation of Sean Duffy as High School Volleyball Coach. The Board approved a sharing agreement for Special Education Services with North Fayette/Valley for this school year.

The Postville City Council held discussion on an ordinance to update the Housing Code procedures and a Housing Ordinance. The Council met with a number of landlords in a question and answer session. The proposed ordinance includes having landlords register with the City along with a fee structure. The landlord would have to schedule an inspection with a certified state inspector.
