On April 14 th , 2026, at approximately 6:53 p.m., the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center took a 911 call from the Mini Mart Gas Station at 609 S. Main Street in Garnavillo. While dispatch was attempting to determine the nature of the emergency due to no one speaking on the other end of the line, a responding Garnavillo police officer observed that a vehicle had driven through the front of the building. On April 14th, 2025, at approximately 4:47 PM, The Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a 911 automatic crash notification located at 9594 Harding Road, West Union, IA 52175. The Marquette City Council approved the budget for the 26-27 fiscal year. The tax rate will remain the same at $7.08-per thousand. The Council amended the current budget by 560-thousand dollars due to Capital Improvement Projects including the Water Main Project.

The Clayton County Board of Supervisors approved an agreement with the Iowa DOT for Traffic Safety Improvement Program funding for B-45 Hill Project. The agreement gives Clayton County an additional 445-thousand dollars towards the project, which is expected to be completed in 2028. Bid letting will be held in December of 2027 or January of 2028. The Board approved a contract for Highway Painting. The bid totals 92-thousand dollars.

On March 20, 2026, Samantha Holschlag absconded from the West Union Residential Facility and currently has an active statewide warrant for her arrest. Multiple law enforcement agencies are actively working to locate her. A Cresco woman was injured in a one-vehicle accident in Winneshiek County. 22-year old Iva Marie Tangen sustained minor injuries and was transported to Regional Health Services of Howard County for medical assessment.
