Village of De Soto – Traffic Stop Leads to Methamphetamine Arrest On Saturday, June 13, 2026, Crawford County Sheriff Dale McCullick reported that the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, Diego, assisted during a traffic stop in the Village of De Soto. A Ridgeway teen faces charges after not making a complete stop at a stop sign in Decorah. The Winneshiek Sheriff's Office says it happened on Tuesday, June 16th as the 16 year old entered Highway 52 from Pulpiy Rock after failing to yield. The National Weather Service in Lacrosse updated their report on the long-track tornado that touched down about 5 miles east-northeast of Waukon Wednesday and continued tracking east-southeast, crossing the Mississippi River. On June 18, 2026, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office arrested Kelly Adam Lohrer, age 42 of Oelwein, of a valid Fayette County Warrant for Parole Violation. Lohrer was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he is being held without bond and awaits an initial appearance from a Magistrate Judge. The Fayette County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office.

The damage survey team from the National Weather Service in La Crosse has preliminarily confirmed an EF-2 tornado in Allamakee County Wednesday afternoon, June 17th. Significant tree damage was noted along its path, along with some destroyed farm outbuildings and minor damage to a few residences. A Cresco man was arrested on a Winneshiek County Warrant for Violation Of Probation. 52 year old Troy Sobolik was transported from the Howard County jail to the Winneshiek County jail on Tuesday, June 16.

On June 16th, 2026, at approximately 5:10 PM a Fayette County Deputy was notified of suspicious vehicle in the 200 block of Center Street, in Elgin. Upon Deputy arrival, it was determined that Spencer Paul Spain, 32 of Elgin was operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. An investigation was conducted, and Spain was arrested and charged with OWI 1st Offense. Spencer was transported to the Fayette County jail where he was held for his initial appearance.

A Minnesota man was injured in a two-vehicle accident in Winneshiek County. 51-year old Aaron Paul Porvaznik of Woodbuy, Minnesota was injured in the accident. Authorities report the accident happened on June 13th at 12:50pm on County Road A-15. 28-year old Dylan Mike Mueller of Manley was operating a 2021 Chevrolet K3500. The Monona City Council approved the issuance of one-million dollars in General Obligation Bonds. Funds will be used for the Center Street Improvement Project and will be paid back over a 10-year period. The Council approved wage increases for Police, Public Works, Administration, and Library positions. The increase averages around one-dollar per hour.
